Grand Prize- Two Tickets to the 2025 Laver Cup

USTA NorCal is proud to announce the Ace Attitude Sportsmanship Challenge, with winners receiving two tickets to the 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco. The sportsmanship challenge is designed to promote good sportsmanship and a positive environment for all who participate in tennis.

 PLEASE NOTE: For Adult League player nominations, use the Blue Ribbon Player Nomination Form.

How To Vote:

STEP 1

Log in to the Match Tennis App if you already have an account.

OR

If you do not yet have an account, click the “Sign Up Now” button below to create your free Match Tennis App account.

    One account per family
  • Important – Ensure that you input your player’s USTA number on the registration process to associate the event with your new account.

    STEP 2

    After Signing in, from the top of the Match Tennis App homepage, click the “Vote” button to cast your sportsmanship vote.

    From the tournament details page of the event click the blue sportsmanship button and cast your vote.

    What:

    Grand Prize: The top Junior and Adult female and male players will receive two tickets to the 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco.

    When:

    This contest will run from March 1, 2025 – September 1, 2025. Nominations received since March 1 will be entered by USTA NorCal staff and will count.

    Who can vote?

    Players, parents, tournament staff, officials, coaches and captains are entitled to nominate up to three players at each individual tournament or league match held within the USTA NorCal section who have demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during the designated contest period.

    Who is eligible to participate?

    Any player from USTA Northern California competing in USTA L3-L7 or Junior Team Tennis events within the USTA NorCal section during the designated contest period is eligible to participate in the USTA NorCal Sportsmanship Initiative.

    Rules and Regulations:

    1. Family members cannot vote for their own family
    2. Players cannot vote for themselves.
    3. During the contest period, participants may vote for the same person multiple times, but only a maximum of 2 nominations per participant for any individual will count towards the results.
    4. For equity and fairness, each player will be capped at 5 nominations per tournament with an allowance of one additional nomination given to the player who received the most nominations in an event, for a possible total maximum of 6 nominations per event.
    5. The top female and male player who receives the most approved nominations between March 1, 2025 – September 31, 2025 (player + guardian) will receive the Prize: two (2)  tickets to the 2025 Laver Cup
    6. If a player receives a code violation, 2x the number of code violation points will be deducted from their accumulative nomination points to date in conjunction with the removal of nominations received from the coded event.
    7. If a player receives a 2nd code violation within the designated time period of the contest, they will be automatically removed from the NorCal Sportsmanship Initiative for the year.  
    8. All nominations received are subject to validation by USTA NorCal.
    9. Each player, parent, coach, or tournament official may nominate up to 3 players per tournament and may replace that vote at any time during the tournament up through the last day of the tournament.
    10. All nominations for the Ace Attitude Sportsmanship Challenge must be submitted by September 1, 2025.
    11. USTA Northern California shall notify the winners of the winning via email September 8, 2025. The winner must accept the prize by email or in person within 1 week of notification by USTA NorCal of winning. USTA NorCal is not responsible for any delay or failure to receive notification for any reason, including inactive email account(s), technical difficulties associated therewith, or Winner’s failure to adequately monitor any email account. USTA NorCal will not hold any appeal or complaint process for any such delay or failure to receive notification.
    12. The Prize (tickets) is neither transferable nor exchangeable and cannot be exchanged for money or money’s worth.
    13. By entering the challenge, each entrant unreservedly agrees to these terms and conditions which govern the challenge and the awarding of the Prize.
    14. USTA NorCal reserves the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time and in its sole discretion.
    15. USTA NorCal reserves the right, at any time, to cancel, modify or suspend the challenge if, in its sole judgment, the challenge is not capable of being conducted as specified.
    16. The winner specifically acknowledges that the winner shall be responsible for the payment of all fees except for the two tickets, including but not limited to, mileage, travel, accommodations, taxes, trip expenses, additional costs, etc.

    Grand Prize Tie Break:

    If there is a tie for the grand prize, the winner will be selected based on the following criteria in the following order:

    1. The number of tournaments where the player received the highest number of nominations.
    2. Total number of nominations received by a player throughout the time period, exceeding the maximum limit of five (5) nominations per tournament.
    3. If there is still a tie, the winner will be drawn at random from the tied players.

    Officials/Referees/Tournament Directors

    (Please follow these steps to nominate a player for good sportsmanship.

     

    1. Register for free Match Tennis App
    2. Search in MTA (by Tournament ID or Tournament Name)
    3. Save Tournament to My Events
    4. From the tournament page click the Sportsmanship button to cast votes
