The USTA New England Good Sport Initiative

Match Tennis App is excited to partner with USTA New England to bring you the USTA New England Good Sport Initiative, in which players are rewarded based on total nominations received for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship and behavior on court. The initiative is designed to promote and recognize excellent sportsmanship in a positive competitive environment for all. Read below for how to nominate deserving players directly from the app and more on the other exciting prizes being given away.

How To Vote:

STEP 1

Log in to the Match Tennis App if you already have an account.

If you do not yet have an account, click the “Sign Up Now” button below to create your free Match Tennis App account.

    One account per family
  • Important – Ensure that you input your player’s USTA number on the registration process to associate the event with your new account.

    STEP 2

    After Signing in, from the top of the Match Tennis App homepage, click the “Vote” button to cast your sportsmanship vote.

    From the tournament details page of the event click the blue sportsmanship button and cast your vote.

    What: USTA New England GOOD SPORT Initiative

    USTA New England Section, in collaboration with the Match Tennis App, will conduct the USTA New England Sportsmanship Initiative. This initiative aims to foster exemplary sportsmanship among players during all junior tournaments (Junior Circuit, ranked level 1-7 events) . This regulation document outlines the rules and guidelines governing this initiative.

    At Team New England, we adhere to the highest standards of good sporting behavior, emphasizing fair play, mutual respect, and integrity. This commitment builds strong character and elevates the spirit of competition. We believe that better people make better competitors, and that competing with integrity is the path to becoming our best.

     

    Objective

    The primary objective is to encourage positive behavior by rewarding players demonstrating superior sportsmanship, thereby fostering a respectful and positive tournament environment.

    Reward System

    The USTANE Good Sport Initiative features a reward system where players can earn monthly prizes such as USTANE merchandise and Tennis Warehouse gift cards. Anyone—players, parents, or tournament staff—can nominate individuals for the Good Sport Award by voting through the Match Tennis App.

    Players will receive rewards based on the accumulation of nominations. Nominations can be submitted by players, parents, or tournament staff using the Sportsmanship Award button on the Match Tennis App.

    The Reward System Shall Be As Follows:

    • Monthly Prizes: Every month, the individual with the most nominations will receive USTA branded merch or a Tennis Warehouse gift card.   To ensure fairness, nominations will reset to zero at the start of a new month.

    • Grand Prize (Awarded Yearly): The player with the most nominations at the end of the contest deadline will be receive:

      • 2 tickets to The Newport Hall Of Fame Open 2026 held in July

    When:

    This contest will run from:  July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

    Who can vote?

    Players, parents, tournament staff, and coaches are entitled to nominate up to 3 players at each individual tournament held within the USTA New England section who have demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during the designated contest period.

    Who is eligible to participate?

    All players must reside within the current USTA New England section to be eligible for nominations towards The USTA New England Sportsmanship Initiative:

    • For participants in junior tournaments (Junior Circuit & ranked level 1-7 events)

      • Players are eligible for 1 reward at each tier.

      USTA Rule Violations

      • Players receiving code violations will have a nomination reward removed from their respective total nominations. 
      • A second code violation will lead to disqualification from the USTA New England Sportsmanship Initiative.

      Legal Disclaimers

      The Sportsmanship Award System is a supplementary feature of the Match Tennis App and isn’t obligatory for USTA tournament participation.

      USTA New England and Match Tennis App disclaim liability for individual behaviors or match outcomes. Prizes are contingent on availability and can be substituted.

      USTA New England and Match Tennis App can amend or terminate the program without prior notice. Participants agree to abide by these terms.

       Miscellaneous Rules and Regulations

      • Relatives cannot nominate family members.
      • Players can’t nominate themselves.
      • Nominations are capped at 5 per tournament with a possible sixth for top nominees.

      Officials/Referees/Non-VTD Directors

      Please follow these steps to nominate a player for good sportsmanship.

       

      1. Register for free Match Tennis App
      2. Search in MTA (by Tournament ID or Tournament Name)
      3. Save Tournament to My Events
      4. From the tournament page click the Sportsmanship button to cast votes
