The USTA Pacific Northwest Sportsmanship Cup

USTA PNW is proud to announce the USTA Pacific Northwest Sportsmanship Cup in collaboration with Match Tennis. Get recognized and rewarded for exemplary behavior on and off the court. Players who receive sportsmanship nominations earn bronze, silver, gold, and diamond trophies displayed beside their names throughout Match Tennis, including player profiles, applicant lists, and competitor lists. These achievements are visible daily to college coaches, players, parents, and tournament directors, showcasing your commitment to character and fair play.

    After Signing in, from the top of the Match Tennis App homepage, click the “Vote” button to cast your sportsmanship vote.

    What:

    Recognition to winners will be made during the 2026 PNW Junior Sectional Tournament, June 19-22, 2026. The PNW Sportsmanship Cup will be awarded to the highest finisher of all Junior Boys and highest place finisher of all Junior Girls. Recognition will be given to the first place finishes in the 18U Boys, 18U Girls, 16U Boys, 16U Girls, 14U Boys, 14U Girls, 12U Boys, 12U Girls, 10U Boys, and 10U Girls. Sportsmanship winners need not be present at the Junior Sectional. Awards will be mailed to those not present.

    This contest will run from December 1, 2025 – June 18, 2026.

    Who can vote?

    Players, parents, tournament staff, and coaches are entitled to nominate up to 3 players at each individual tournament held within the USTA Pacific Northwest section who have demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship during the designated contest period.

    Who is eligible to participate?

    Any player from USTA Pacific Northwest competing in USTA L3-L7 or Jr Circuit tournaments within the USTA Pacific Northwest section during the designated contest period is eligible to participate in the USTA Pacific Northwest Sportsmanship Cup.

    Rules and Regulations:

        winners will be made during the 2026 PNW Junior Sectional Tournament, June 19-22, 2026.
    1. Family members cannot vote for their own family
    2. Players cannot vote for themselves.
    3. During the contest period, participants may vote for the same person multiple times, but only a maximum of 2 nominations per participant for any individual will count towards the results.
    4. For equity and fairness, each player will be capped at 5 nominations per tournament with an allowance of one additional nomination given to the player who received the most nominations in an event, for a possible total maximum of 6 nominations per event.
    5. Winners will be made during the 2026 PNW Junior Sectional Tournament, June 19-22, 2026.
    6. If a player receives a code violation, 2x the number of code violation points will be deducted from their accumulative nomination points to date in conjunction with the removal of nominations received from the coded event.
    7. If a player receives a 2nd code violation within the designated time period of the contest, they will be automatically removed from the USTA Pacific Northwest Sportsmanship Cup for the year.  
    8. All nominations received are subject to validation by the Junior Competition Committee.
    9. Each player, parent, coach, or tournament official may nominate up to 3 players per tournament and may replace that vote at any time during the tournament up through the last day of the tournament.

      Recognition Winners Tie Break:

      If there is a tie the winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

      1. The total number of nominations received by a player throughout the entire time period, exceeding the maximum limit of 5 nominations per tournament, will be considered if there is still a tie after the first criteria is evaluated.

      2. The player who received nominations from a greater number of unique tournaments will be considered should a tie persist following the assessment of the initial criteria.

      Winners Tie Break:

      If there is a tie for the grand prize, the winner will be selected based on the following criteria:

      1. The total number of nominations received by a player throughout the entire time period, exceeding the maximum limit of 5 nominations per tournament, will be considered if there is still a tie after the first criteria is evaluated.

      2. The player who received nominations from a greater number of unique tournaments will be considered should a tie persist following the assessment of the initial criteria.

      Officials/Referees/Non-VTD Directors
